Art Show
Local artists capture local farms en plein air. Nineteenth century French Impressionists popularized the practice of painting “en plein air”. Rebels, such as Berthe Morisot, Claude Monet, and Auguste Renoir, turned away from historical subjects favored by art academies to paint spontaneous impressions of Parisians strolling along boulevards and boaters floating down the Seine.

Plein Air Art
A plein air artist must capture a scene rapidly before the light changes with motor skills that match those of a superb fly fisherman. An expert command of drawing, perspective, and color theory is essential, as well as a strong sense of design. Our local artists lug equipment over hills and through mud, brave rain, cold, and heat, and survive attacks by bees and wasps. When a plein air artist succeeds in capturing freshness of vision all thoughts of discomfort vanish.
